Persons who have applied for an Undergraduate or a Postgraduate course commencing in October 2024, and now wish to amend/change their choice of preference/s prior to the commencement of their course, may request to submit a Change of Course request online.

Kindly read carefully the conditions and criteria set hereunder before submitting your Change of Course request.

1. Change of Course requests are not applicable for applicants who are currently pursuing their studies at UM and are already considered as university students. In the case that you are already pursuing your studies at UM as a student, and who for example completed your first year but for some reason wish to “change” your course, then you need to apply as a new applicant through our course application page during the admissions period.
   
   
2. Change of Course requests can only be processed towards courses/areas of study that are still open and accepting applications for admission at the time of your request. Given that some courses do not accept applications for admission after a given deadline, Change of Course requests submitted towards these courses after this deadline may not be accepted and/or processed. However, if the courses allow it, applicants may still have the option to invert the order of their existing preferences up until a given date. For your reference, course application dates & deadlines are indicated on the official October List of Courses.
   
   
3. If you withdraw one of your course preferences for which applications has since CLOSED by the time of your request, you will not be able to re-include the same course again in subsequent Change of Course requests. Courses which are CLOSED are indicated on the official October List of Courses.
   
   
4. If you are accepted for your 1st preference course, your 2nd preference course will be automatically withdrawn. If however, after being accepted for your 1st preference, you still wish to be considered for your 2nd preference, you may only do so if your 2nd preference is still accepting applications for admission at the time of your request.  If you were withdrawn from your 2nd preference course, and such course has since CLOSED by the time you re-consider to join your 2nd preference course instead of your 1st preference course, your Change of course request shall not be processed. Courses which are CLOSED are indicated on the official October List of Courses.
   
   
5. For the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery course: Change of Course to the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery is only allowed for applicants who have already applied for this course before 14:00hrs of 24 July 2024, as this course does not accept late applications. However, it will still be possible to invert the order of preferences after this date, until an outcome letter is issued.
   
   
6. For the Master in Teaching and Learning course (MTL): Applicants who applied for capped areas of the MTL course may amend/change their main and/or subsidiary areas until 14:00hrs on 24 July 2024. After this date, applicants will only be able to invert the order of their preferences (no change of areas allowed) up until 14:00hrs on 31 August 2024, after which a ranking process will occur. If after the ranking process you are accepted for your 1st preference, your 2nd preference (if applicable) will then be automatically withdrawn.
   
   
7. For Postgraduate limited number courses: Change of Course to Postgraduate Courses/Areas in which the number of students that can be accepted is limited, is only possible until 14:00hrs on 24 July 2024. After this date, applicants will only be able to invert the order of their preferences up until 14:00hrs on 31 August 2024, after which a ranking process will occur. If after the ranking process you are accepted for your 1st preference, your 2nd preference (if applicable) will then be automatically withdrawn.
   
   
8. For Undergraduate limited number courses: Change of Course to Undergraduate Courses/Areas in which the number of students that can be accepted is limited, is only possible until 14:00hrs on 24 July 2024. After this date, applicants will only be able to invert the order of preferences up until 14:00hrs on 31 August 2024, after which a ranking process will occur. If after the ranking process you are accepted for your 1st preference, your 2nd preference (if applicable) will then be automatically withdrawn. 
   
   
9. If you are changing to a course that requires the submission of a Police Certificate of Conduct, you will be asked to present this document upon the commencement of the course. Should you fail to submit this document, your studies at the university will be terminated. The courses that have this requirement are indicated on the official October List of Courses.
   
   
10. Before submitting a Change of Course request, applicants should familiarize themselves with the General Regulations and the Course Regulations or Bye-Laws applicable to their course. In particular they should:
11. • Ensure that they satisfy the entry requirements for the course they will be changing to;
    • Be aware of the provisions in relation to the commitment to studies and full-time employment.
      
      
12. Change of Course requests will remain free of charge until the first deadline of course applications. Applicable Change of Course fees will apply thereafter, in which case your requests would not be processed unless payment is affected for each Change of Course request.
    
    
13. All applicable fees are non-refundable.
    
    
14. Once a change of course request is reviewed and processed by the Admissions and Records Office, a summary of the Change of Course submission will be sent to the applicant on the email address they provided when the original course application was submitted. If applicable, the application for the previous course will be withdrawn, and a new evaluation process will be conducted on the new preferred course. If necessary, a new official UM admissions letter indicating the outcome of the new application will be sent to the applicant accordingly once the new evaluation process is complete.
