DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is for students who wish to start learning the Romanian Language. The study-unit includes the following components: a short grammar introduction with explicit explanations; simple vocabulary; a phrase set; exercises to develop language usage competence; and a short socio-cultural introduction to the country that is thematically related to the lesson. Learning Objectives: • To provide an introduction to the Romanian Language; • To enhance students’ sensitivity to listen, read and understand basic Romanian words and phrases; • To provide opportunities to make use of frequently used expressions and basic phrases in Romanian; • To enable simple introductory conversation in Romanian. Unit Material: Appropriate unit material will be provided by the tutor during the sessions. There are no set texts for the unit, though tutors may recommend appropriate manuals to students who would like to take their work in this area further. Assessment: In keeping with the spirit of Degree Plus, there is no formal assessment associated with the unit. A certificate of attendance and of satisfactory completion of the unit will be provided at the end of the semester. Note: Degree plus units are not designed to be incrementally burdensome in terms of the many academic demands placed on students during their undergraduate years. |
