| DESCRIPTION | The first year project is a unit designed to consolidate knowledge acquired through during the first semester and assess the student’s ability to implement, explain and present a design for a specific purpose. The credits translate into approx 100 hours of effort that is to be put into the following deliverables: • An engineering–artefact that can be either built or modelled. • A report, maximum length 1500-2000 words (up to 6 pages of A4 text inclusive of diagrams, references etc.), describing the motivation and design of the artefact according to normal scientific conventions. • A set of 5 presentation slides.
