The University of Malta is preparing to commemorate Pink October 2017 on Tuesday, 24 October at 11:30. The event will be held in the University Quadrangle (Atriju Vassalli).
All students and members of staff are invited to participate and contribute towards the Pink October initiative. The contribution will assist an initiative by breast cancer surgeons and doctors who are starting a personalised well-being programme for patients to complement their medical treatment. There are around 300 cases of new breast cancer patients per year, who will now benefit from this vital programme.
Throughout the month of October donations will be accepted in Room 216A, Administration Building and at the KSU offices. The University will make available a limited number of free Pink October t-shirts to members of staff who donate EUR 5 or more (on a first come first served basis). These may be worn on the day. The 24 October will be a dress down day where wearing pink t-shirts is encouraged. Participants will be able to join in a group photo in the Quadrangle at noon.
Faculties and student organisations who are planning other Pink October initiatives are encouraged to coordinate with the Office of Human Resources Management & Development.
On the same day at 12:30 students and staff are welcome to participate in a mass in the University Chapel, to celebrate the life of Mr Jerome Frendo. Mr Frendo, a student at the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, passed away on Friday 6th October after a long struggle with cancer. Family and friends are also welcome.
Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
