On 30 August 2022 the results of the ICARUS Erasmus+ project were presented at ST Microelectronics.
Dr Ing. Emmanuel Francalanza from the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering gave a presentation of the various results which were achieved during this project and how these can be used by industry to bridge their Industry 4.0 skills gap. Principally amongst these results is the ICARUS Industry 4.0 Mobile Training Unit. This was transported on-site to ST Microelectronics in Ħal-Kirkop and was utilised to demonstrate its capabilities both in terms of pedagogical and research potential.
Dr Ing. Francalanza noted how the research being carried out in Collaborative Robotics applications and Industry 4.0 was being directly passed on via knowledge transfer to both current and past engineering students. Present for this meeting was Mr Laurent Filipozzi, ST Microelectronics Site General Manager and various engineering team members.
The ICARUS project is coordinated by the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Malta, and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, Project No. 2019-1-MT01-KA203-051265.
