A Call is being published for the provision of part-time expert services in the field of socio-economic data analyses, for a maximum duration of four (4) months, within the ambit of the Interreg Italia-Malta 2014-2020 SenHAR project.
- Applications are invited for an external expert to work on SenHAR (Campagne di sensibilizzazione per un’armonizzazione Italo-Maltese per un buono stato dell’ambiente), a project financed by the InterregV-A Programme in which the Department of Geosciences at the University of Malta is a partner with Università degli Studi di Palermo (www.senhar-italiamalta.eu).
- The main tasks of the engaged expert include the following:
- Statistical analysis of the data collected during the SENHAR project through a sampling of fishers and other maritime stakeholders (e.g. boat owners, SCUBA divers, tourists) operating in the St. Paul’s Bay area, conducted over the May-September 2022 period. Sampling was conducted through one-to-one survey questionnaires, with the collected data being held within an Excel matrix and within the raw questionnaire survey documents themselves;
- Conduction of the same statistical analysis on corresponding socio-economic data being collected from maritime stakeholders through the SENHAR project by Italian partners from Sicilian ports and harbours and to harmonise the analysis of the two datasets into a single one. This data will be made available by the Italian partners participating in the SENHAR project;
- Liaison with Prof. Alan Deidun and Dr Marie Briguglio on the work to be conducted upon signature of the relevant contract, as well as collaboration with a second external expert who will also be engaged by the University of Malta on a related thematic through the SENHAR project;
- Participation within the next SENHAR project meeting being held in Malta between and through the delivery of a short presentation on the methodology to be followed during the commissioned data analysis study;
- Delivery of (i) a report on the work conducted to the SENHAR project coordinator as well as to Prof. Alan Deidun and Dr Marie Briguglio as well as of (ii) a draft text for a peer-reviewed journal publication based on the outcomes of the same study by 29 February 2023 by the very latest.
- The University of Malta will make available to the selected awardee all the raw and processed data collated through the SENHAR stakeholder questionnaire survey.
- The ideal candidate needs to have at least a first degree in Economics and experience in working with STATA.
- Additionally, a previous participation in EU-funded research projects, especially Interreg Italia-Malta 2014-2020 ones, will be positively assessed.
- The awardee needs to be in possession of his own transport and the fuel will not be reimbursed.
- The engagement will last for a maximum of four (4) months from receipt of appointment letter, over the period November 2022-February 2023, with the selected candidate expected to invest a minimum of 15 logged hours per week over the same period (4 months) and for being responsible to transfer the results of the statistical analysis to Prof. Alan Deidun by Tuesday 31 January 2023 by the latest. The candidate needs to log the hours spent within the University of Malta’s laboratories on a monthly basis within time-sheet templates provided by the University of Malta. Payment will be transferred by the University of Malta payable against the issuance of monthly VAT invoices following the provision of monthly timesheets and final report by the selected candidate.
- Total remuneration for the engagement is that of EUR 6,000, exclusive of 18% VAT.
