Anne-Marie Bezzina is coordinator for the French Subject Area within the Department of Languages in Education of the University of Malta’s Faculty of Education. She is responsible for the initial training of French as a Foreign Language teachers to serve mainly in Maltese secondary schools. She also coordinates Master and Doctoral courses in French pedagogy, supervising practising teachers who undertake these higher level courses.
Her doctoral research focused on stylistic variation in Maltese, in comparison with sociolinguistic variation in the French context. She has published articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals and volumes on Maltese and French (socio-)linguistics, foreign language teaching and learning, and the issue of multilingualism in foreign language education, which reflect her research areas of interest.
She has co-authored textbooks for the learning of French in Malta. She has presented academic papers at international conferences and participated on French and Maltese media in relation to her areas of expertise.
