Dr Karen Borg Grima (B.Sc (Hons) Radiography ; M.Sc Nuc. Med.; PhD in Nuclear Medicine) lecturer within the Department of Radiography, Faculty of Health Sciences.

Previously working as a full-time, Principal radiographer in the Nuclear Medicine unit, Medical Imaging Department, Mater Dei Hospital, Mrs Borg Grima was employed as an Assistant Lecturer, as from the 13th of September 2010. She graduated in 1997 from the University of Malta, after attending a four year course in B.Sc. (Hons) Radiography. As a full-time radiographer she has worked in several placements such as A&E, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT. and Nuclear Medicine. In 2000, Mrs Borg Grima commenced a post-graduate masters in Nuclear Medicine, with Hertfordshire University, Hatfield Campus, U.K. At the beginning of May 2002, she worked for 6 weeks in the Nuclear Medicine department of the Royal Free Hospital in London, under the supervision of Dr J. Buscombe in order to successfully terminate her studies. Also within the same year she was one of the organizers of the first Nuclear Medicine conference to be held in Malta.

In February of 2004, she started teaching clinical Nuclear Medicine to undergraduate radiography 3rd year and 4th year students, within the now Faculty of Health Sciences. Currently Ms Borg Grima is a member of both the EANM (European Association of Nuclear Medicine) and the BNMS (British Nuclear Medicine Society). In 2006 she was given the licenses to practice both as a Qualified Expert in Nuclear Medicine and in Unsealed Radiation Sources by the OHSA (RPB section), after which she was appointed by the CEO of the previously St. Luke's Hospital to act as the QE of the Nuclear Medicine unit. These licenses and her appointment with the hospital were renewed again in May of 2009 and in October of 2010 respectively.
Dr Borg Grima has obtained a PhD with University College Dublin, Ireland, in December 2019.
