Petramay is an anaesthetist by profession, with a strong interest in medical education. She currently works as a Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. She holds a medical degree from the University of Malta and obtained the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care in 2015. She was awarded a Master Degree in Medical Education with Distinction from the University of Dundee, Scotland in November 2020.
Petramay has been an Instructor with the European Resuscitation Council since 2010, teaching on Advanced Adult and Paediatric Life Support Courses, as well as the Generic Instructor Course. She holds a Visiting Lecturer post at the University of Malta in the Department of Surgery. She has worked on MEDIWARN (EU project) as a Research Support Officer also within this Department.
Petramay has been described by her colleagues and students as enthusiastic, engaging, well-prepared and motivating. For her efforts, she was awarded the Young Teaching Recognition Award in 2016 by the European Society of Anaesthesiology.
