Certificate in Language Proficiency

The Certificate in Language Proficiency is an initiative of the Faculty of Arts aimed to promote proficiency in foreign languages. 

The Faculty of Arts is offering all university students the opportunity to study a foreign language from scratch or to strengthen their knowledge of a language they have already studied at SEC, Intermediate, or Advanced level. Chinese and is spread out over two years (i.e. 4 semesters) while, French, German, Italian and Spanish are spread out over three years (i.e., 6 semesters). They may be taken concurrently with any undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the University, whether followed on a full-time or part-time basis.  

The Certificate is offered in the following languages: Chinese, Spanish, Italian, German or French. (For academic year 2024/25, the Certificate in Language Proficiency in Arabic will not be on offer.)
