Students’ Requests Committee
The Students’ Requests Committee is a sub-committee of the Faculty set up to deal with requests such as:
N.B. Requests for an extension or suspension of studies for medical reasons can only be accepted if accompanied by a medical certificate issued by a suitably qualified professional. Certificates by a General Practitioner will not be accepted.
Reports to substantiate requests for Extensions of studies will be accepted if they are issued by a Psychiatrist or by any of the Specialists (Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Counsellors) at the University Counselling Services.
In case of illness in the family, the student should present a note from the family doctor to confirm that he/she is supporting the family due to the illness of a family member. This note from the doctor is being requested by the Committee for the sake of consistency in dealing with requests for extension/suspension of Studies.
Students should download the correct forms at www.um.edu.mt/services/formsforstudents. For other requests please download the Student Request Form [PDF]. These should be filled and returned to Ms Iana Spiteri Viacava in Room 248, Old Humanities Building. The filled forms and supporting documentation may also be scanned and sent by email to iana.viacava@um.edu.mt but originals have to be filed at Ms Spiteri Viacava’s office in due course.
The next Students' Requests Committee meeting will be held on Friday 10th January 2025. Students’ Requests forms should be submitted by no later than Monday 6th January 2025. Forms received after this date or without approvals from the respective Head of Departments cannot be considered in this meeting.
