The Course shall be open to applicants in possession of one of the following qualifications:

  1. a Bachelor degree with a strong ICT component obtained with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) and comprising 180 ECTS credits or more or
  2. a Bachelor degree with a strong ICT component obtained with at least Second Class Honours and comprising 180 ECTS credits, together with a Postgraduate Diploma in an ICT related discipline or
  3. the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – B.Eng.(Hons) - with at least Second Class Honours in an ICT related area of study.

The admission of applicants may be made conditional on the results of an interview conducted for the purpose.

Interviews, when necessary, shall be conducted by a board composed of at least three members.

The intention of this course is to instil scientific rigour in the endeavour to propose improvement in the area of specialisation. This course will acquaint you with skills pertaining to dissertation preparation and presentation methodology. In particular, you will acquire skills in the research, augmentation, evaluation, presentation, defence and scientific procedure of the selected field. The presentation shall consist of the student's appraisal of a subject area related to that of the dissertation. The Course shall be offered in areas of study in ICT where the Faculty can offer expert guidance and supervision. You will be required to write a dissertation in one of the areas listed to which 80 ECTS credits are assigned, and shall consist of a maximum of 35,000 words, as directed by the Board on registration. You are to consult with the department before submitting your application and research proposal.

Students are required to obtain a total of 90 ECTS credits over a period of 5 Semesters of part-time study.

* Work on the dissertation is expected to start in Summer Semester of academic year 2024-25 (February 2025) and continues up to the end of Summer Semester of academic year 2026-27 (January 2027).
** Students are required to register for this study-unit or another study-unit as directed by the Board.
 

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Degree of Master of Science ­- M.Sc. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.
