The Master of Pharmacy degree obtained from this University or from any other recognised university or a qualification deemed as comparable to the Master of Pharmacy degree by the Board.

Applicants whose qualifications in Pharmacy are obtained from a university other than the University of Malta are required to demonstrate that their qualifications provide access to practise as pharmacists, to the satisfaction of the Faculty Admissions Committee.

The course provides insight into advanced clinical pharmacy practice together with pharmacoeconomic and pharmaceutical administrative and regulatory perspectives in Europe and the USA. The course will prepare you to participate in the development of innovative patient-centred pharmaceutical activities.

Applicants who register for the Master in Advanced Clinical Pharmacy who complete the taught component and satisfy any other conditions as specified in the Bye-Laws for the course have the possibility of continuing with years 2 and 3 of the Pharm. D programme which is available here. In addition to the taught component which is the same as that for the Master in Advanced Clinical Pharmacy, as a Pharm. D. student you are expected to undertake a Doctoral Research Dissertation and an Advanced Experiential as outlined in the programme of study.

This programme of study is governed by the Professional Doctorate Degree Course Regulations, 2014 and by the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Doctorate in Pharmacy - Pharm. D. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • integrate clinical pharmacy practical aspects with evidence-based pharmacotherapeutic concepts
  • develop advanced clinical pharmacy skills
  • contribute to pharmaceutical processes related to access to medicines and evaluation of innovative therapies
  • critically assess theoretical knowledge, principles and concepts as applied to specific disciplines
  • demonstrate reflective and evaluation skills for service development and research activities
  • design and undertake applied pharmacy practice research.
