DESCRIPTION | This advanced practical study-unit brings together the common elements of the different specialties of the hospital pathology department. Content: • Health and Safety rules and regulations and working safely in the pathology labs • Principles of continuous professional development, data protection and the code of practice for medical laboratory scientists • Sample reception, handling, storage and disposal Learning Outcomes: By the end of this study-unit the students should be able to: • Work within the health and safety regulations of the pathology department; and • Adhere to the principles of the data protection act and the code of practice for medical lab scientists; • Use the hospital laboratory information system.
