DESCRIPTION | In the study-unit, participants engage with policy and implementation of internal quality assurance systems. Students engage with proactive design and implementation of quality assurance mechanisms within daily teaching and learning practices, ranging from ongoing self-evaluation to peer-reviewing practices. Students also engage with stakeholder involvement (approaches, methods, outputs) in internal quality assurance systems in order to maintain an evidence-based system of continual improvement and reap the full benefits of implementing an effective internal quality assurance policy. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit aims to provide exposure and critical engagement with the: 1. Importance of setting up and maintaining internal quality assurance (IQA) mechanisms; 2. Relationships between IQA, programmes' design, teaching, learning resources, student support systems, assessment, etc.; 3. Role of policy regulating admission, progression, certification etc. in adult education and training initiatives; and 4. Different performance appraisal systems. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. Describe processes entailed in setting up and maintaining IQA mechanisms; 2. Discuss policies regulating admission, progression, certification etc. in adult education and training initiatives; and 3. Critically discuss specified performance appraisal systems. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. Discuss the relationships between IQA, programmes' design, teaching, learning resources, student support systems, assessment, etc.; 2. Analyze specified policies, teaching and learning resources and student support systems of given adult education and training initiatives; 3. Analyze relations between internal quality assurance and cyclical external quality assurance systems; and 4. Design IQA tools relevant to specified adult education and training initiatives.
