DESCRIPTION | This study-unit introduces the fundamentals of EASA rules related to maintenance activity and technical part of the flight operations. The study-unit covers: - Laws and rules hierarchy - EASA structure - Overview of Part 145, PART M, Part 21l - Basics of AIR OPS - Analysis of the main details of those rules - Structure of a CAME - Structure of a MOE - Maintenance Program - Minimum equipment list - Technical Logbook Study-Unit Aims: Aircraft maintenance technicians play an important role in aviation safety. This study-unit aims to familiarize students with the technical rules of aviation and the role it plays in the context of aviation maintenance. Specifically, the study unit-aims to: - Describe the basic law hierarchy; - Describe main regulations affecting the technical and maintenance activity; - Describe Maintenance programs; - Describe the Minimum Equipment List (MEL); - Describe and explain the Tech Log Book. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Differentiate roles and activities in Technical and maintenance fields; - Explain the structure of the EASA website; - Describe the different rules in Part M, Part 145 and Part 21; - Explain the various aspects of a Maintenance program; - Describe the content of the MEL, differences from MMEL. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Apply the understanding of a compliance check list; - Identify the different roles in the organizations and allocate tasks to whom is in charge; - Apply the knowledge in design of a simplified maintenance program; - Apply the knowledge in design a MEL for a basic aircraft in accordance to the corresponding MMEL; - Perform a post-holder assistant role.
