DESCRIPTION This unit presents, in an applied manner, theoretical models and practical perspectives relating to the dynamics occurring in evolving organisations. Looking into the areas of entrepreneurship and leadership, this study unit offers an overview of the best practices to adopt as a means of leading change within enterprising organisations and the requirements for thriving in a competitive arena. Complementary, this unit provides participants with a deeper understanding of the contribution of customer insight to organisational learning and business development as a whole. During the unit, the dynamics that influence enterprise evolution will be defined, explored in detail, and applied through the identification of examples to be discussed in an interactive setting.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to:
- Provide students with a thorough understanding of the dynamics of modern enterprises responding to market shifts to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive climate;
- Explain how enterprise management evolves when faced with uncertainty and changes characteristic of dynamic and complex environments;
- Enhance awareness and appreciation of the significance of customer insight in stimulating and driving successful entrepreneurial activities and innovation;
- Assist participants in developing a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of tailor-made and creative approaches to enterprise evolution and discovering the leadership factors that contribute to business success.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Comprehend the complexity and need to evaluate and manage the strategic implications of an evolving organisation;
- Explain the process that every organisation and entrepreneur as a leader must go through to achieve their objectives, identifying where and how even top performers underachieve during the change process;
- Appreciate the value of customer insight as a strategic form of knowledge that enables an organisation to learn and change to meet market demands fully;
- Evaluate academic theories and methodological practices to develop targeted interventions and actions for the successful management of an evolving enterprise;
- Identify the practical methods that can serve as a foundation for strategy in dealing with change and business development.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Compare the knowledge gained from various theoretical models and practical perspectives to foster business development;
- Demonstrate the skills needed to deal with change and overcome the challenges that arise in evolving organisations to gain a much-needed competitive advantage in the marketplace.
