DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is designed to bridge the gap between business strategy and cutting-edge information technologies, exploring how emerging technologies can be strategically applied to enhance business processes, create competitive advantages, and drive innovation. The study-unit aims to equip undergraduate students with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage the latest technological advancements within the context of business operations. Study-Unit Aims: The study-unit, "Applied Emerging Technologies in Business" is designed with several primary aims to equip students with an understanding of how emerging technologies can be applied from a business construct. The key objectives include: - Introduction to Emerging Technologies: Definition and identification of emerging technologies. • Understanding the impact of emerging technologies on various industries. - Strategic Technology Planning: Aligning business goals with technology initiatives. Developing a technology roadmap for organizational growth. - Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies: Applications of blockchain in supply chain, finance, and beyond. Exploring the impact of cryptocurrencies on financial transactions. - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Integrating AI and ML into business processes. Case studies on predictive analytics and business intelligence. - Internet of Things (IoT) in Business: Smart manufacturing and logistics using IoT. Enhancing customer experiences through connected devices. - Cybersecurity in the Digital Age: Understanding the importance of cybersecurity in business. Strategies for protecting digital assets and customer data. - Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Applications: Implementing AR/VR for training, marketing, and customer engagement. They will explore block chain applications in various industries, understand cryptocurrency impacts, integrate AI and ML for informed decision-making, and implement IoT solutions to create a connected business ecosystem. The unit emphasizes the importance of cybersecurity, the use of AR/VR for training and customer engagement, leveraging big data for enhanced business performance, addressing ethical and legal concerns related to emerging technologies, and developing effective communication skills to articulate technology strategies for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: Identify and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to business needs, and develop strategic plans that align technology initiatives with business goals.
