DESCRIPTION | This study-unit takes the form of a Seminar Series, for which attendance and participation will be compulsory for all Masters students in the Department of the Built Heritage. Each student will be expected to give a presentation of between 30 and 40 minutes, followed by between 20 and 30 minutes of discussion (total 1 hour). Students will be encouraged to draw on the materials and issues they are encountering in any other part of the course, for the subject of their presentation. Study-unit Aims - Create a forum for students following different streams in the Preparatory Course, or different master's degrees in the department to share their different theoretical, methodological and professional perspectives; - Give students the opportunity to develop their skills in presenting and arguing an issue in greater depth than is possible in a 15 or 20 minute presentation; - Encourage students to hone their skills at inter-disciplinary discussion. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Formulate clear and critical questions after listening to a presentation on an issue; - Field and answer questions by peers on an issue they have studied in depth. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - List the key elements of an argument they would like to communicate; - Organize a complex subject into an in-depth presentation.
