TITLE User Interface Design

UM LEVEL 02 - Years 2, 3 in Modular Undergraduate Course

MQF LEVEL Not Applicable

ECTS CREDITS 4

DEPARTMENT Computer Information Systems

DESCRIPTION During the study-unit the student will be introduced to various elements of interfaces design (for personal computers and mobile devices/tablets) and human computer interaction (HCI) including principles of design, methods for evaluating interfaces and techniques for designing user interfaces.

Study-unit Aims

The aims of the study-unit are to:
i) introduce the best practices, standards, techniques, and concepts of user interface design.
ii) understand the value of good user interface design.
iii) provide techniques for the design of a good user interface.
iv) teach students how to apply the above.

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
i) understand the value of good user interface design.
ii) provide techniques for the design of a good user interface.
iii) provide knowledge for the prototyping/implementation of a good user interface.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
i) recognize good interface design
ii) design and implement a user interface based on the knowledge gained in the study-unit.
