CODE CIS5227

TITLE Digital Health Applied Project

UM LEVEL 05 - Postgraduate Modular Diploma or Degree Course

MQF LEVEL 7

ECTS CREDITS 10

DEPARTMENT Computer Information Systems

DESCRIPTION This unit is an assigned practical task, designed to help students learn in the context of a supervised project experience, consolidating their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience whether technical or otherwise and, if possible, set up as a fieldwork real environment or simulated.

Students will be working on a well-defined task, whether set by an academic or set together with an approved company or research institute. The students will be given assessable tasks that will provide them with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills from prior learning. This will also furnish the students with first-hand experience of project management, and practical real-world skills.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to expose students to a practical problem related to digital health, either as part of a work placement or in a university laboratory environment. Moreover, it also allows students to build upon the skills gained in other study-units by applying them in the field and recognise the practical day-to-day challenges of deploying a digital health solution.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- take informed decisions on a real-world problem, soundly based on their knowledge and research;
- apply problem-solving and project management skills on practical problems;
- explain and report on challenges which arise when deploying digital health solutions to real problems.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- to identify practical solutions to real-world problems;
- develop a capacity to apply their digital health knowledge to industrial/practical problems;
- evaluate and report upon the requirements and challenges of a practical problem;
- manage projects with digital health aspects and their related challenges.
