DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is an extension of CLA1001, concentrating on Latin Syntax. Aims: To help students of various Departments acquire an appreciation of the use of Latin in their own studies, and to enable them to handle Latin passages of moderate complexity; To offer students the opportunity to enlarge their knowledge of various aspects Ancient Greek culture as a by-product to their study of the language; To make students aware of the continuous relevance of the Latin language and culture through the centuries. Outcomes: To possess knowledge of basic Latin syntax. To read and understand Latin passages composed in simple syntax. To be able to cite more examples proving the importance of Latin to the history of Western culture. Reading List: Notes will be delivered in class by the lecturer.
