DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will provide more depth to the study of management in the construction process. It will focus on: (1) Forms of Contract (2) Tendering Processes and Adjudication (3) Contract Administration Study-unit Aims: The aims of the study-unit are to introduce the students to the practicalities of tendering and contract administration in the context of public and private construction projects. The study-unit will trace the legal and normative obligations in the tendering process and their impact on subsequent adjudication procedures and contract administration. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of the difference among different forms of Contract; - Determine the appropriate form of contract for case study projects set in different contexts; - Prepare a draft adjudication report in the context of a presented case study; - Prepare a plan for contract administration processes. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Select an appropriate form of contract for a particular type of project; - Undertake the adjudication of tenders for construction contracts; - Write up an adjudication report; - Understand the intricacies of contract administration; - Write up contract administration reports for senior management.
