DESCRIPTION This study-unit will provide more depth to the study of management in the construction process. It will focus on:

(1) Valuation Methods;
(2) Legal Aspects of Valuation;
(3) Financial aspects of Valuation.

Study-unit Aims:

The aims of the study-unit are to introduce students to the different methods available for performing valuation of real estate property and their appropriate application in practice. Exploring the legal and financial context within which valuations are prepared sets a real world and local focus to the subject matter.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Identify the appropriate valuation method to be adopted in the context of a case study;
- Prepare a valuation report for a given property in the private property market;
- Assess the value of property subject to a legal framework;
- Prepare a financial analysis for a property investment proposal.

2. Skills:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Analyse the financial aspects of building development within various market settings;
- Analyse the financial aspects of land use within various market settings;
- Assess the business implications of investment in real estate.
