| DESCRIPTION | The aim of the study-unit is to introduce to students to the control tools and techniques associated with the post contract stage of a building project and management of works on a construction site. Study-unit Aims: The aims of the study-unit are: - To provide an understanding of project control techniques; - To introduce management concepts related to site management; - To develop a knowledge of site methods and understanding of site planning and construction processes. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - produce a project control management plan; - produce a site management plan of works for a given project site; - For a particular construction activity, draw up a method statement that is practical, efficient and economic and observes health and safety concerns. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - demonstrate an ability to organise a complex operational system by producing a comprehensive plan; - analyse a task in terms of a series of activities and represent the activity as a flow chart and series of instructions in a method statement.
