| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will provide an in-depth study of property management in construction and it will focus on: - An introduction to the methodology of valuations; - The history and development of valuation methods; - Advanced valuation methods - Valuation principles & accounting principles - The market approach & comparison method - Data and market research Study-Unit Aims: The aims of the study-unit are to introduce students to the different methods available for performing valuations of real estate property and their appropriate application in practice. Exploring valuation principles, market research and setting the context within which valuations are to be prepared. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Identify different valuation approaches to be adopted in the context of a case study; - Assess the value of property subjected the asset in context and other real estate advisory services; - Identify the impact of valuations on the economy; - Explain and define the factors that contribute to the value of property, - Evaluate the requirements of and liaise with professionals in the property related professions; - Report on the manner in which the property market functions; - Analyse the operational mechanisms of the property market 2.
