DESCRIPTION | This study-unit aims at demonstrating the connection between risk analysis and security management. Crime prevention strategies are the forefront of addressing identified risks. Student will be exposed to various risk analysis and security management scenarios. There is no panacea is foreseeing and preventing security risk and this study-unit explores this aspect in applied crime management both in the streets and in the work place. By the end of the study-unit the students will be able to plan and execute a risk assessment. Study-unit Aims: The main aim of the study-unit is to teach students how to identify potential risks, find which crime prevention strategies adequately fit the place being assessed and implement security strategies. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Apply and conduct risk management procedures; - Demonstrate the applicability of risk and security measures in the work place; - Analyze how security risk assessment has become important in preventing crime in different situations. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Observe, report and analyze the possible security risk and recommend appropriate actions; - Review a potential scenario and apply the theories of crime prevention and security management into practice.
