DESCRIPTION | This study-unit touches on the many interactive products that are a part of everyday life, but will mainly focus on the website as interactive tool and looks at the techniques, tools and theories relating to website design. Students expand on the previous module and enhance the theory underlying website interaction design. They will acquire practical skills that will equip them to analyse, design, and evaluate interaction in website design. Students learn how to creatively design websites and critically evaluate their quality. Through assignments and a final project, the course prepares students to design and maintain quality websites for a variety of clients. Study-unit Aims: - To teach students to evaluate the quality of website design; - To get students to work on website design for a variety of clients; - To place students in a realistic production environment. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Become proficient in the creation and deployment of quality websites using the latest technologies for desktop and mobile devices; - Become familiar with working within professional briefs and deadlines; - Become familiar with industry standards and expectations. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Be able to work with industry standard Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and Version Control Systems (VCS) tools to help you build and deploy your websites - Be able to create websites that are up to industry standards; - Be able to work within given deadlines; - Be able to adapt work for a number of client necessities.
