DESCRIPTION | This Study-unit prepares the student for life after graduation. Looking into the various paths that are available to the creative practitioner, the Study-unit shall assist the students in building a tool kit with which to embark in creative careers. This will be achieved through exploring the creative sector in terms of opportunities, career choices, further education and marketing strategies. Creating a strong and representative online presence, a solid portfolio and an industry standard Curriculum Vitae shall be combined with familiarisation with proposal writing, grant and scholarship application, legal and financial aspects that relate directly to the creative sector, as well as strategising and implementing short and long term visions for the future. Study-Unit Aims: - Lay the foundations of Business, Legal and Financial matters relevant to the creative Industry; - Give students the skills to build tools to initiate their creative careers; - Foster a culture of continuous professional development; - To connect the course content to developments and directions within the creative industries. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - identify the various strands of the business aspect in creative sectors; - demonstrate competence in the relevant professional legal and financial aspects relevant to the creative industry; - be prepared for writing job and funding applications; - demonstrate a clear direction in addressing creative employment opportunities, funding possibilities as well as academic routes. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - determine the value of their creative work/services; - build and maintain a strong professional online presence; - build and maintain a professional CV and Creative Portfolio; - write a business/research proposal.
