DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will cover the basic concepts of the anatomy of the Head and Neck and neuroanatomy, in particular relating to the cranial nerves. In addition to lectures, students will be exposed anatomy demonstrations. During these sessions students are stimulated to perform specified tasks and guided as to what is expected of them through worksheets. Students will also be required to participate in regular case-based group discussions of the underlying scientific basis of common clinical conditions through facilitated Critical Thinking Sessions. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit provides core knowledge of the Anatomy of the Head and Neck and selected parts of the Central Nervous System well as a brief outline of the anatomy of the upper limb in relation to venesection to the student allied dental health professional. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. Describe the structure of the different parts of the Head and Neck. 2. Describe the structure of the different parts of the CNS, in particular of the cranial nerves 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. Identify selected anatomical head and neck and brain structures in cadaveric specimens 2. Apply core knowledge of the anatomy of the head and neck and cranial nerves to relevant clinical case scenarios 3.
