| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will provide students an opportunity for analysing and engaging with real world conflict and to apply social science theories in the context of conflict analysis and resolution work. Students will learn a methodological procedure for understanding conflict on both sides of the divide, towards identifying a resolution strategy that works in practice. Study-Unit Aims: - Allow students the opportunity to explore research and intervention skills targeting real world conflict. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit: - Students learn to develop research and/or practice projects and skills necessary to implement conflict resolution strategies; - Students will learn to utilise a grounded empirical procedure that serves to identify commensurate beliefs and practices across a conflict divide. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit: - Students will learn to analyse what impediments exist to conflict resolution and to identify potential for reconciliation; - Students are able to propose a strategy for researching and analysing conflicting perspectives.
