DESCRIPTION | The aim of this study-unit is to provide students with the opportunity, under the guidance of their supervisor and in consultation with the Head of Department, to work within an area that may be more directly relevant to the research leading to their dissertation than the focus and content provided for in ENG4002 or ENG4003. It is therefore particularly recommended to students who, after consultation with their supervisor, find that they may need to both deepen and broaden their familiarity with specific texts or approaches before moving on to the writing of their dissertation. It is in the nature of this study-unit that students opting for it will be advised and supervised on an individual basis through regular tutorials with their supervisor. For that reason no specific course content is being indicated here, as this would necessarily vary depending on the nature of the research conducted. If and as appropriate, it may also be recommend that the student should attend specific lectures or seminars on the Department’s Taught MA programme. Students carrying out work under the provision of this study-unit will be expected to submit an assignment of approximately 8000 words, after having attended regular tutorials with their designated tutor and any other sessions that may be recommended to them. Reading List A reading list will be provided to students in their first tutorial. |
