DESCRIPTION | In this project, a problem integrating the main product development pillars, will be given. The outline of the project programme can be defined as follows: - Analysis of the problem, such as market research, review of related subject area(s), identify the customer requirements etc. - Development of a solution such as design work, framework/platform modelling (depending on the type of the problem investigated and the research area). - Evaluation of the solution generated such as experimentation, quantitative and qualitative data collection, validation of research results, etc. - Writing up of dissertation together with preparation of any additional submission requirements. - Defense of the dissertation as appropriate. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims at enhancing and assessing, the knowledge and skills gained by the learners throughout the M.Sc. IPD course, in order to comprehend a product development related problem and solve it, using an integrated approach. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Demonstrate understanding on the integration aspect of the IPD model - Recall and apply techniques/models/methods taught in the course and which are used in the pillars of the IPD model taught in the course - Apply the knowledge gained in the course to systematically solve a product development problem, by adopting an integrated approach. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Manage typical product development issues/projects at his/her place of work. - Defend appropriately a scientific piece of work in an oral examination. ADDITIONAL NOTES | **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Presentation and Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners. | ||||||||
