DESCRIPTION | Each trainee will participate in a small group experience (8 persons) in which he/she will have the opportunity to explore the reflexive relationship between the different aspects of his/her personal and professional development during the course. Trainees will be helped to develop awareness and appreciate how they each combine values, experience, knowledge and skills when working therapeutically. Study-unit Aims: The aim of this unit is to create a space which allows students to explore patterns and experiences from their personal lives in PPD work. Students will be able to consider how these aspects may be related to their development as family therapists. Students will also become more aware of how personal experiences may impact on therapeutic practice, and serve as both a resource and a potential constraint. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - integrate different aspects of their course experience into a reflexive ethical practice; - have a deeper understanding of themselves as a practitioner within a system, and thus also be more sensitive to the way they are affected and affecting other systems around them. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - have the skill of being a more self-reflexive practitioner in various contexts.
