| DESCRIPTION | The study-unit will be a continuation of the course German B2.1. In this study-unit the four basic skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) are developed further using topics and themes related to technical matters and which are more abstract. The chosen topics and themes shall give rise to discussions, during which participants learn how to express an opinion outlining the advantages and disadvantages on a particular issue. Vocabulary on all aspects is broadened further. Participants will be in a position to apply complex structures both in the written (formal and informal) and in the spoken form. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit is designed to provide students with more complex forms of the language and with in-depth understanding of complex German texts on both concrete and abstract topics. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - govern a wide range of vocabulary in his/her field of study and on most general topics; - understand a wide spectrum of longer complex texts on various topics including abstract topics; - understand longer speeches and follow an argument, given that he/she is familiar with the theme. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - take an active part in a discussion and express his/her opinion in a precise manner and be able to bring up convincing arguments and react to his/her partner's opinions; - take part in a technical discussion in his/her field of specialization; - read and understand more complex texts in German related to various fields; - produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and express a viewpoint, outlining the advantages and disadvantages.
