| DESCRIPTION | The study-unit is a continuation of the course German C1.1. Language knowledge will be further expanded in communicative contexts. Furthermore, vocabulary is broadened by providing participants with a deeper understanding of technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit is designed to provide proficient language skills in speaking, listening, writing and reading German at level C1.2. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - understand a wide range of longer, challenging texts, appreciating distinctions of style; - understand specialized articles and longer technical instructions; - understand implicit meanings in texts. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - follow extended speech even when it is not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not signaled explicitly; - apply various means of text association appropriately; - take part in a technical discussion in his/her field of specialization; - cope effortlessly with most situations and express him/herself spontaneously and fluently without having to search for words frequently and noticeably.
