| DESCRIPTION | Angesichts der Auswirkungen der modernen – speziell visuell orientierten – Massenmedien erscheint der Leser immer mehr zum schnellen, ‚gedankenlosen’ Konsumenten von schriftlichen Texten degradiert. Zu dieser Veränderung des Leseverhaltens und spezieller Techniken der schriftlichen Rezeption hat nicht zuletzt das Internet beigetragen. Das gründliche Textstudium und eine umfassende Textanalyse bleibt dennoch Basis des Studiums von Fremdsprachen. Nur durch sie kann der Rezipient – über ein allgemeines Textverständnis hinaus – spezielle Anspielungen, Ironie, Sarkasmus oder demagogische Absichten des jeweiligen Autors erkennen und einordnen. Hier skizzierter Kurs beabsichtigt daher eine Einführung in verschiedene Lesetechniken und in die systematische Analyse deutscher Prosa- bzw. Gebrauchstexte zu geben – eine Vorgehensweise, die sich sowohl mit dem Autor, der Textsorte, dem Textinhalt (inklusive Grammatik und Vokabular), dem angedachten Kreis der Rezipienten und der finalen Absicht des Texts beschäftigt. Unterrichtsmaterialien bestehen aus einer Auswahl verschiedenster Textsorten (Memos, Manuale, Berichte, Protokolle, Zeugnisse, persönliche Briefe, Geschäftsbriefe, Zeitungsartikel und verschiedenste journalistische Texte, Exzerpte von Novellen, Romanen und Kurzgeschichten etc.). Due to the effects of modern – especially visually orientated – mass media many readers appear to be degraded to quick ‘thoughtless’ consumers of written texts. This change of attitude towards reading was brought about by various developments, especially Internet. This phenomenon can be felt even on the level of University students. Yet a thorough study of texts and a thorough analysis of the contents remains the basis of the study of foreign languages. Only via the techniques of text reading is a recipient put in the position not only to understand the contents but also special allusions, double-meaning, irony, or for demagogical purposes. Besides reading techniques this course intends to introduce the tools of a systematic analysis of German prose, respectively ‘Gebrauchstexte’, including memos, manuals, reports, minutes, references, business letters, newspaper articles, excerpts of novels, short stories etc. Reading List - Ernst Goette, Jürgen-Wolfgang Goette, Sprache und Kommunikation (Rinteln, 1996). Participants will be provided with more material and handouts in the form of photocopies. |
