DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach the new learning outcomes framework for the vocational teaching and learning of Textiles and Fashion. It provides learners with appropriate pedagogical tools to introduce creativity in various aspects of fashion and textiles. This course provides an overview of the various methods used to assess the creative aspect of textiles. It offers the learners an opportunity to practice these various learning and assessment modes for the creative component related to fashion and textiles. Study-Unit Aims: This study-unit aims to enable prospective teachers of fashion and textiles to learn the necessary pedagogies to teach the creative apects of fashion design. It will help the learners to gain the skills and competencies that are required to achieve the learning outcomes related to creativity in fashion and textiles. In addition, the learners will also master the assessment methods used for the creative aspect of this vocational subject. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - identify suitable learning and assessment strategies for the creative component related to fashion and textiles, by examining information collected in a personal learning journal; - interpret the creativity aspect of the fashion and textiles learning and assessment programme into a detailed scheme of work that distinguishes appropriate content and time-frames; - describe and apply different pedagogical styles used to teach the creative aspect through a presentation. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - demonstrate appropriate practical skills in a portfolio of fashion and textiles creative work; - formulate and prepare suitable lesson material and assessment methods for promoting and facilitating practice of creativity in the fashion and textiles programme; - critically assess peers during the presentations of learning and assessment strategies related to the creative aspect of fashion and textiles.
