DEPARTMENT History

 
DESCRIPTION The study-unit provides students with hands-on experience and direct insights in diverse work environments where history students might aspire to work when they graduate. These include heritage organizations, archives, ministries such as the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, various NGOs, and any other organization willing to receive students and induct them in their work environments. Students are expected to record their experience in the form of a report, while the management would write a report on their performance. The student will eventually be marked on the basis of these by a departmental Board of Examiners.

Study-unit Aims:

- To expose students to practical applications in the local work environment related to their studies in history.
- To provide students with a range of employment opportunities and potential areas for further specialization.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Translate and apply their historical studies to practical work assignments;
- Demonstrate their adaptability to work in a range of diverse employment opportunities using the skills gained from their studies;
- Exploit work opportunities by implementing the learning skills gained even when the work assigned is not directly related to history.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Gain practical experience to make the transition from knowledge to application in a real work setting;
- Know how to work in a team;
- Present in clear and succinct language the experience gained, the nature of the work undertaken and the benefit derived.
