DESCRIPTION This study-unit will assist the students in developing an understating of the operation of cultural mediation from a religious perspective. Thus, the study-unit is formulated on a threefold educational operation:

- Deconstruction of one's understanding of faith and religion by engaging critically with ones own traditions and belief systems.
- Development of an understanding of religion as a phenomenon that needs to be taken in consideration during the different faces of cultural mediation.
- Engaging with praxes and operations that assist in the creation of dialogical relation with people of different faith traditions.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to develop a critical understanding and engagement with the religions and faith traditions as a means for cultural mediation operation. Thus, the study-unit explores the role of religions and faith traditions as a dialogical tool in the cultural mediation accompaniment. The dialogical tools that will be explored are conveyed through notions of multiculturalism, complexification and intersectionality.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Define the notion of multi-religious and multiculturalism and their complimentary role;
- Recognize the value of religion and faith tradition in the process of cultural mediation;
- Identify dialogical tools to engage with diverse religious and faith tradition;
- Critically review one's stance of religious praxes;
- Locate the historical importance of the three Mediterranean monotheistic faiths in relation to multicultural development.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Apply the theoretical understanding of dialogical engagement to the cultural mediation operation;
- Analyse the multicultural possibilities through inter-religious engagement;
- Contrast different dialogical and dialectic operations;
- Criticise exclusive practices to religions and faith traditions;
- Employ an inclusive approach to diverse religions and faith traditions and praxes.
