DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will provide an in-depth study of property management in construction and it will focus on: - Introduction and history of banking and finance; - Currency and money markets; - Bonds, equities and REITs; - The loan process and mortgages; - Development Finance and commercial property loans. Study-Unit Aims: To introduce students to development financing which refers to the collective endeavors of local communities aimed at promoting, stimulating, and facilitating growth through both public and private investments in physical development, redevelopment, as well as business and industry. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Identify the history of banking & finance; regulatory framework, stakeholders, the Role of CBM, ECB, EBA, FinTech as well as various sources of capital. - Identify financial and capital markets and their implications on real estate projects; - Explain and define the factors that contribute to the value of property, - Evaluate the requirements of and liaise with professionals in the property related to mortgages, development finance and commercial property loans; - Discuss the manner in which court cases have been resolved. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Discuss the impact of valuations for secured lending purposes; - Evaluate market on development finance; - Discuss equities and REITs; - Evaluate the outcomes of court cases.
