DESCRIPTION | Students are required to write a dissertation on a topic relating to islands and small states issues. The theme of the dissertation should preferably have an international dimension. The dissertation shall not normally exceed 25,000 words, apart from the footnotes, bibliography and appendices. Students shall submit the title and research proposal relating to the dissertation for the approval of the Board of Studies within 1 year of the commencement of the course if this is offered on a part-time basis and within 4 months of the commencement of the course of this is offered on a full-time basis. The research proposal should be 1000 to 2000 words in length and should be as detailed as possible to enable the Board to properly assess the suitability of the dissertation. The Board shall appoint a supervisor for each student. Students shall be required to report to their supervisors as often as the supervisors deem necessary, but it is suggested that as a minimum, students should meet their supervisors at least once every two months. No dissertation may be submitted to the Board of Examiners without a certificate, signed by the supervisor, confirming the work`s originality and conformity with these regulations. |
