| DESCRIPTION | An introduction to linguistics based on the historical development of linguistic theory and practice, with special emphasis on the principles of Historical Linguistics. These principles will later be applied to the various aspects of Italian linguistics. When parts of this study-unit are taken on their own, with the lecturer’s approval, they should be registered as follows: ITL1123 (2 credits), first semester, and ITL1223 (2 credits), second semester.
