Knowledge and understanding of facts and events are complemented by reflective thinking, by interpretation and by instructional strategies.

Theoretical principles and learning strategies will be linked to Education for Democracy. Students will investigate democratic institutions, develop attitudes of respect, and understanding of diversity. A practical component at the school and possibly out-of-school level will form an integral part of the unit.
