DESCRIPTION | For a teacher of SFL, knowing and understanding how a language works is essential. In this study-unit, becoming-teachers of Spanish will consider and review grammatical concepts that are commonly difficult or problematic for learners of SFL. These include the uses of ‘ser and ‘estar’, agreement, verb tenses and conjugation, prepositions, pronouns, accentuation, and the subjunctive mood. The study-unit will also explore a range of pedagogical approaches and techniques for teaching these concepts, as well as strategies for addressing the specific difficulties and challenges that learners may encounter. Study-Unit Aims: - To enhance the student’s understanding of the grammar of the Spanish language; - To help students teach grammatical concepts that are commonly difficult for learners of SFL in an effective and efficient manner. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - handle the basic foundations for grammatical reflection; - examine and reflect on the most significant and/or challenging grammatical content for learners of SFL. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - design inclusive activities and tasks aimed at developing learners' grammatical competence; - address both the most basic questions that can arise in the classroom regarding grammar, as well as the major difficulties, by developing appropriate tools for critical analysis and pedagogical response.
