DESCRIPTION This study-unit is intended to provide undergraduate students to systematically present and discuss their research ideas and progress, and to expand their knowledge in research methods and their application in various domains.

Study-Unit Aims:

- To develop a culture of regular exchange and communication of research ideas and findings;
- To provide an opportunity to develop further students' presentation and academic writing skills;
- To expose students to a wider context of research on different topics and discuss selected methods, procedures and analysis of research results.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Report on ongoing research: background, formulation of research problem, choice of methodology, resolution of ethical issues (if any), definition of critical success factors and key performance indicators for the particular research project;
- Develop a culture of research discussion and compare different research areas with a multidisciplinary perspective;
- Improve argumentation quality, as well as tolerance in research debates, and discuss both at the theoretical and practical level.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Develop better structured and more efficient presentations;
- Improve academic writing for publication and for research proposal;
- Distinguish and critically assess primary and secondary sources.

Topical weekly readings will be assigned for specific lectures.
