DESCRIPTION The purpose of this study-unit is to introduce the participants to both the theory and the application of international marketing. It covers the full spectrum of international marketing from start up operations to the formation of virtual alliances. Although it offers a discussion of the operations of multinational corporations, it presents a specific focus on the activities of small and medium-sized firms.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this study unit, the participants should be able to:
- Show an understanding of the context of international marketing;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of the international marketing task;
- Understand the impact of culture on international marketing;
- Outline the strategic decisions that carry the company abroad;
- Review the methods of entry and operation in foreign markets;
- Comprehend the social and moral responsibilities of international marketers;
- Discuss areas of change in the international marketing field that require marketers to rethink their strategic outlook.

Attendance and Participation Policy

Participants are expected to attend all classes. Students will also be expected to have read the assigned chapter/s before the lecture during which they will be discussed. Students may also be asked to read other material or to prepare work to be discussed in class.
