DESCRIPTION | The purpose of the dissertation for the attainment of the Masters in Spiritual Companionship is to develop students’ understanding of, and capacity to critically appraise, develop and apply research skills and methods in one’s reflection on an aspect related to spiritual companionship. The study-unit seeks to furnish students with the skills to read critically, reflect on and interpret texts using paper based and electronic resources. It will eventually provide students with the strong foundation necessary to proceed on to conducting their own academic research. As part of this study-unit students are to participate in two weekend seminars on research methods held in the first semester of the first year of the MA in Spiritual Companionship. Study-Unit Aims: On completion of their dissertation students will be expected to be competent in the execution of theological research, the application of appropriate methodologies and in one’s reflection of the area of study chosen. ADDITIONAL NOTES | **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners. | ||||||||||||
