CODE MSP1285

TITLE Pedagogical Placement 2

UM LEVEL 01 - Year 1 in Modular Undergraduate Course

MQF LEVEL 5

ECTS CREDITS 6

DEPARTMENT Music Studies

DESCRIPTION
The study-unit builds on the skills and knowledge attained in Placement 1. It starts by highlighting what is expected from each participant in terms of effort and outcomes (6x 2 hour seminars).

Students will then start their practical experience in a band club of their choice where they have to carry out 24 hours of placement, preferably 1 hour 30 mins per week spread over 16 weeks of the regular academic year. The total of 24 hours can be divided according to the needs of both students and the band club hosting the placement. The schedule of the placements shall not overlap with the university timetable. Students may extend this placement to 36 hours subject to approval by the Department of Music Studies and the band club hosting the placement. The study-unit coordinating lecturer will follow both practical and academic aspects of the placements.

The students shall be assigned a specific task by the band club hosting the placement. This task shall be reviewed and approved by the coordinating lecturer and named the ‘Learning Agreement’. The tasks assigned to each student must be completed by the end of the placement period, unless specifically stated by the band club hosting the placements.
