DESCRIPTION | This study-unit addresses the collaborative music-making process through the recognition and practice of leadership attitudes that will enhance and improve both the music and economic/socio/cultural environments and contexts. Cultural Management is nowadays recognised as a specialised field of study with Leadership as a fundamental topic within this scope. Since the study-unit encourages the participation of students who are already engaged in music-making in band-club environments, the notion of learning theory and putting it directly into practice will strengthen their own personal development both within the collaborative process and in their personal lives too. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit aims at introducing students to key skills and styles in Leadership, including emotional intelligence, offering development and training for the music band club sector that is an active and dynamic throughout the Maltese Islands. Leadership theories by major exponents in the sector will be discussed. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - demonstrate an understating of what leadership entails within the band club environment; - illustrate knowledge and understanding of leadership theories and how to put them into practice within the music band-club context. 2.
